How To Make Your Lipstick Stay On Longer
Looking for new ways to make that pout stay on point all day every day? These four tips should help!
1 - Condition and exfoliate
Lipstick will apply easier and last longer on smooth lips so exfoliate dead lip skin regularly and apply a light moisturiser to your lips before applying any coloured lip products. You can use a homemade lip exfoliator such as brown sugar and honey to remove dead skin and condition the lips once a week.
2 - Line them up
Defining the outline of your lips with a lip liner or pencil is a good way to create a stencil for your lipstick. It can also help stop lipstick from ‘bleeding’ due to the waxy ingredients found in the formula.
3 - Apply with a brush
Once you’ve finished with the liner, apply your lipstick with a lip brush to blend the liner with the lip color. A lip brush gives a better line and coverage than lipstick in a tube. You can even use this technique on the go using retractable lip brushes, which fit easily into any handbag #winning.
4 - Go Matte!
Matte formulas are the best as they contain the most pigments. Glosses, lip shines or stain formulations wear off more easily. Layering lipstick also helps it to last longer – apply lipstick with a professional lip brush, blot with a tissue, then reapply. Instead of blotting the final coat, opt for a lip sealant to make it last. If you don’t like matte, a cream formulation might be an alternative.
